The greatest strength of St. Andrew’s is her people. They are committed to worshiping, learning, growing and serving together.
There are many opportunities for involvement and we believe that christian growth comes as we learn to serve others. Opportunities to serve including the following:
Coffee and Fellowship Ministry
A group of dedicated volunteers hosts a fellowship time after every Sunday worship celebration. This is a time when members of the congregation and visitors get to know each other better. At this time, we also celebrate birthdays and special occasions in the lives of those who are there.
Knitting for a Cause
It’s time to get those needles clicking! Come on out on Monday mornings from 10:00 – 12:00 and join us for a time of fun and fellowship and community mission while we knit! Our finished projects will be donated to several worthwhile causes. We meet in the nursery and children are welcome! Beginners and advanced knitters and crocheters are all welcome as we share ideas and instructions.
On the first Saturday of every month the men of St. Andrew’s gather in the church’s lower hall for their monthly breakfast. This is a time for fellowship, sharing and conversation. The offering after expenses is directed to local mission work.
Women’s Missionary Society
This group (the Ruth MacLean auxiliary WMS) meets the third Tuesday of every month – September to June. The Women’s Missionary Society is a community of christians whose purpose, in response to the love of God in Jesus Christ, is to encourage one another and all the people of the church to be involved in local and world mission through prayer, study, service and fellowship. The meetings are followed by lunch and fellowship.
Music is very important to those of St. Andrew’s. We are blessed with a choir who share their talents with us during the regular worship services. Choir practice is on Wednesday evenings at 7 p.m. New voices are always welcome!
We gather for 5 to 6 weeks at a time to study the Bible and learn about God, ourselves and our duties. It is a time for us to sit back, laugh, struggle and grow in our faith.
Food Bank Ministry
Through regular donations of non- perishable food items we support the ministry of the local food bank. Every third Sunday of the month, we gather food items and have a special offering for those in need.
Operation Christmas Child Ministry
We consider it a privilege to participate in operation Christmas child, the shoebox ministry managed by Samaritan’s purse bringing hope to disadvantaged children around the world.
Children are seen as very special at St. Andrew’s. We have a very enthusiastic and dedicated design committee which plans the Sunday School rotational programs. Each Sunday, during the worship service, a separate children’s time is held before the children go to their classes.
During Sunday worship we provide loving childcare in our well equipped, competently staffed nursery for infants to toddlers.
The Session is composed of the Minister and elected Elders (spiritual leaders). It is responsible for the overall leadership of the congregation, specifically with spiritual matters, oversight and planning. Elders are elected by the congregation and are set apart specifically for their leadership role.
This team is responsible for the care and upkeep of the property and maintenance of the church. Much planning goes into making sure the church building is in good repair.
Financial Resources Team
The Financial Resources Team is responsible for providing leadership in managing church finances. They prepare the annual budget and present it to the annual meeting for approval. St. Andrew’s is committed, as a registered charity, to be transparent and financially accountable.
Worship and Sanctuary Team
This team oversees all aspects of activities that take place in the sanctuary. The committee, in conjunction with the Minister and the Choir Director, develops and maintains the schedule of worship services throughout the year.
Pastoral Care Team
Elders do regular visitations in their districts. We have several members who do visitations on a regular basis to shut-ins and nursing home members. Many of our elderly in the seniors’ homes enjoy listening to the services which we tape each Sunday.
